Project Description

Maggu Creative

Visual Identity

“Magaly, what’s your hobby?”

That was the question I asked Magaly Felix-Ortiz during a dinner with her and her sister. She took a moment to think about my question before confessing that she didn’t have any hobbies.

I didn’t think much of the conversation at the time, but I later found out that Magaly really thought about the question afterwards and did research into potential hobbies. A few days later, she told me she bought a printing machine and was printing all sorts of designs on t-shirts, cups, and other things she found around the house. Not long after, she began taking requests from family, friends, and eventually a large part of the Belton and Temple, TX area. It was the birth of what would come to be known as Maggu Creative, named after the nickname her grandmother had given her.

We helped her kick-off her new business by designing the essentials for a visual identity.

The logo is based on a Lily flower, paying honor to another nickname Magaly’s grandmother had given her. We geeked out a bit with the Golden Ratio to combine the Lily shape and “M” into a balanced and aesthetic icon.

Maggu Creative has gained a steady flow of business and is now Magaly’s full-time job. Way to go, prima!
