SHIDFF

Shanghai International Deaf Film Festival (SHIDFF) is the first deaf-led film and arts festival in Mainland China. We designed and developed the website for their first-ever festival, held in 2018.

A particularly interesting challenge in this project was creating it in a language that none of us spoke. With translation support form the SHIDFF staff, we were able to build the website completely in both English and Chinese. It was exciting to design with Chinese characters for the first time – the way all the characters line up evenly on the top and bottom is very appealing.

The website features pages packed with info and several submission and registration forms. The text-heavy pages were made more digestible by using large type, photography, and separating the text into sections of different color backgrounds.
